Directions to Cat 5 Lodge
Directions to our home, from Denver (pick up along the route wherever)
Take I-70 west out of Denver, over the Front Range.
Take the exit for Winter Park / Fraser, which is #232 (it’s also called Empire/Granby). This is Highway 40, which runs through the Winter Park Valley, and on to, oh, Salt Lake City and points beyond. Don’t go that far.
Stay on 40 through Empire, up over Berthoud Pass, past the ski areas (Mary Jane first, not very developed, Winter Park next, very developed) through the town of Winter Park, 3 miles further into Fraser. It’s a total of 31 miles from I-70 to Fraser.
At the only stoplight in Fraser turn right onto Meadow Ridge Road. Go past the Safeway and bear right up the hill behind the Safeway, once you’ve made this right hand bend you’re on Fraser-Hogan Road. Go to the top of the hill, total of 0.7 miles from the stoplight.
At the top of the hill is a 3-way stop. What this means is that at this 4-way intersection the roads from the other 3 sides have a stop sign; you don’t. You’re coming up the hill; we don’t want to stop you on the slope. Turn left here onto Cranmer Avenue. Be careful here because there may be uninformed visitors in town and they may not yield to you.
Go 0.4 miles on Cranmer, and the first road to the left is Wapiti Drive – take it.
In about 50 yards is a side road to the left, which is the road for 904 Wapiti Drive, a shared address. There is a stone sign saying 904 Wapiti marking the entrance, but you might not be able to see it if it’s snowy. Turn left here. Once you’ve turned, keep to the right. The road will turn left around the edge of the hill; we are down on the right, before you get to the cul-de-sac. We are #6A, the right hand side of the duplex. Our address is:
Cat 5 Lodge, 904 Wapiti Drive, #6A, Fraser, CO 80442
Pull into the driveway, and remember you’re in snow and ice country, please be careful getting out of your car. You learn that there can be snow and ice everywhere, but this might be the first time you’ve gotten out of the car since the airport, so it’s easy for that fact to slip your mind. Pun intended.
